The Weight Of Sinking

The Weight Of Sinking
By Ryan Johnston

The heaviness of the sound
The screaming in my ears
It drags me to the bottom
Beneath the waves,
Made of these years
And all of these feelings,
Hit us over and over, again

I'm having trouble staying awake, these days
I used to have to hide myself, in my own head
Because I missed you, because without you
I have become something, that isn't anything

And my eyes,
Torn, red, and rusted
Soaking in formaldehyde
To preserve the way you smiled at me
The ending. The memory

You are anchored to my dreams
And all I want to do,
Is close my eyes,
And stop sinking
